The Saint Bernard is named after Bernard De Menthon. Bernard De Menton was the founder of a hospice in a remote part of Switzerland, the hospice sheltered mountain travelers. They have been used as a rescue dog for a long time.
The Saint Bernard can get up to 25-27 inches tall. They can come in colors of white with tan markings, mahogany, red, brindle, and black. These colors also come in variations. These dogs get along with children, are a good watchdog, intelligent, and easy to train making a good family dog. For exercise this dog can be hard to handle unless trained, it needs to be exercised very often.
Saint Bernard’s can get hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and they can bloat. They can also have eyelid problems and these dogs drool a lot.
For a home these dogs can do good in a regular house but will need to be exercised.

The Border Collie can come in colors of black and white, tri-colored with tan, and blue merle with white. They are easy to train, and are intelligent. They like games, herding sheep, and swimming. Border Collies are good watchdogs. They can be in a regular house but will need exercise. They can get up to 18-22 inches high.
These dogs can have joint, and eye problems.
In their history they were used for herding sheep and still have that trait.

The Golden Retriever can be 20-24 inches tall. It can come in gold and cream. These dogs are easily trained, and gentle. They are a good family dog. These dogs are also good watchdogs.They love to swim. They also shed a good deal of fur.
The best home would be a regular house. These dogs need exercise.
Golden Retrievers can have skin allergies, hip dysplasia and eye problems.
In their history they were used as a gundog.
The American Cocker Spaniel comes from the English Cocker Spaniel but by the 1930’s, these two breeds were considered different by the U.S. and later Britain.
American Cocker Spaniels can get ear infections, skin and spinal problems, and inherited eye problems.
American Cocker Spaniels can come in black and tan, any solid color, tricolors, roans, and particolors. These dogs are mostly happy and friendly but might show aggression. They can get up to 12-16 inches high. These dogs are good watchdogs.
These dogs need to have at least some exercise, and have a lot of stamina. These dogs can be in a house but of course will need some exercise.
